Private Birding Tours
Your own private naturalist ... when and where you want!
For more than 25 years, Steve has specialized in leading private tours on the eastern slope of Oregon’s Cascade Mountains, where 11 woodpecker species annually raise their young. Though we recently relocated to Mexico, Steve will return to Oregon each summer with a very limited number of days available for private outings. Contact us well in advance to get your trip on the calendar.
BASIC TOUR FEES
Full day (up to 10 hours)—$350
Half day (up to 6 hours)—$250
Hourly (up to 4 hours)—$50/hour
2 full days—$315/day
3 full days—$295/day
Depending on the season, the weather, or your specific interests, full days can be split into two 5-hour sessions: either morning and afternoon on the same day or two successive mornings, subject to availability. Lunch is not included on full days, and we do not expect you to provide or buy lunch for our guides.

Our private trips go well beyond the Oregon Cascades. We can take you and your birding companions to some of the most celebrated domestic and international destinations … on your schedule. Pick your dream destination and let us take you there! We have birding and travel experience in 14 North American states and provinces and on four continents, with local guides in all of our international destinations.
SPECIAL GROUP TOURS
We have guided for Audubon chapters, local bird clubs, corporate groups, or just small groups of friends and family. With adequate notice, you can pick your dates and destination, and we do all the planning and execution of your custom adventure.
How to register for Private or Custom Tours
For private tours in Oregon, download the private tour registration forms and return them to us—electronically or manually—with a $100 deposit. Full balance is due 30 days before the departure date. If you register within 30 days of the trip, the entire tour fee is due with registration. From 60 days to 30 days before your departure, your $100 deposit is non-refundable. After 30 days, all payments are non-refundable.
